Yes folks, I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan and proud of it. What little respect I've gained from my friends and readers has probably vanished, but I don't care. No I haven't jumped on the bandwagon. I've been a Cowboys fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper and I've stood by them through thick and thin. The million dollar question that everyone asks is 'how do you become a Cowboys fan living in Pennsylvania'? Well, I grew up smack dab in the middle of PA out in the middle of nowhere. No one really heard of the Eagles because they are perpetual losers (yes, jab intended). Eagles fans are annually let down year after year, and they still haven't won the big one. Did you know pharmaceutical industry statistics jump each year in December and January for depression medications here in Eastern Pennsylvania? ;) Anyway, back to my story...and I just didn't hop on the Steelers success in the 70's. So here I am a loyal Cowboys fan and I'm finding myself in a quandary.

Back in November 2005 I wrote a post Egomaniac lamb basting a certain someone who is now on our team. Yes, I'm talking about Mr. T.O. Most didn't think the marriage would last including myself, but here we are in 2008 and he has become an integral part of this team and their recent success. How can I forgive someone that has repeatedly dissed the star and acted so immaturely?

At one time I hated this guy for his selfishness and antics. I'll give the guy credit, he is a great football player. Whatever has happened, it seems to be working. Whether he has finally matured, actually learned his lesson or is just handcuffed by numerous clauses in his contract to behave, his spotlessness continues to be a mystery. I secretly find myself rooting for him during games. I feel so dirty and hypocritical. I've never lived by the philosophy of do whatever it takes to win and personally, I think Jerry Jones is the devil in disguise. So this season I will be once again 'getting my popcorn ready' and sitting on the couch wondering to myself; where do I go from here?

Another scary erosion of American's Civil Rights brought to you by our paranoid Government. You can bet your bottom dollar that I will be encrypting my hard drive prior to leaving on any vacations. I have nothing to hide so if they want my information bad enough, they will have to work for it. Our personal property is no longer ours. Laptops, cell phones, iPods, digital cameras etc can all be confiscated and analyzed. Just another typical sad day here in our floundering country. I can only hope our kids will have some remnants of civil rights left when they are our age. Though at the rate our Government is going, Civil Rights will one day be a thing of the past.

When are politicians going to learn that we don't care how much mud you can sling but, "what are you going to do for me". As you know my time here at Causticity's Place has been limited. Recently, my creative juices have been leaning towards photography. I mentioned in a previous post a while back that I have two mentors to thank for this. Dorman over at Sisyphus Today and my father-in-law. I've been interested in photography since I was a teen. I found it difficult to immerse myself in this hobby using a film camera, but with the advent of the digital camera, it has become easy to obtain that instant gratification most of us crave. I currently use a point and shoot Sony DSC-H1, but hope to graduate to a DSLR at some point.
It must be a photographer thing, but if you asked each one of us, we do not feel our work is that great. Others seem to differ. The photos that Dorman and my father-in-law capture are wonderful. Everyone that has seen my photos has said I take good pictures. I wonder to myself; are they just being nice or is my work actually pretty decent? Only time will tell I guess. My wife & I had watched the John Adams series on HBO which has rekindled an interest in American History in the both of us. We've traveled to Philadelphia and taken pictures around the Old City area and most recently attended a Revolutionary War Reenactment at the Daniel Boone Homestead in our hometown of Birdsboro, Pa. Each Spring, we pick a project around the house to work on. This helps boost our floundering economy by spending our hard earned tax refund ;) This year's project was our bedroom. New paint, crown molding and refinished hardwood floors (as I write this), have left us with a blank canvas so to speak. So I've done something I thought I would never do, I've taken the next step of printing & framing a few of my photos. Some of the photos from the above events, will soon adorn the walls of our bedroom. I can only hope to create a comfy abode.
Dorman has also taken a pretty big step as well. He has taken his passion for photography and opened his very own photography business Die Strafbar Photography! To make a long story short, this is one more example of our society bowing to political correctness. A 5yo girl for crying out loud chose the name of the mascot and had no intention of offending anyone. A few complained and they gave in. The mascot is a pig, not a Latino. I searched google images for pork chops and guess what? NOT ONE Hispanic or Latino showed up in the search! Next thing you know, they will want the name of the cut of meat changed as well. It's all in the context as this gentleman points out Context of mascot's name made it inoffensive. Buck up people and quit crying every time something doesn't make you happy. By the way, after this post I'm writing a letter to Nabisco to have the word cracker taken off of their saltine packages. It just makes me sick each time I reach for that box. ;)

Lew Bryson - Pennsylvania Breweries

I received this book as a gift last year and have enjoyed it immensely. Beer followers are aware that Michael Jackson recently passed away. No not THAT Michael Jackson, unfortunately that freak is still alive. Michael Jackson the beer/spirits critic. Another writer that enjoys craft beers and spirits is Lew Bryson. This book reviews all of the Brewpubs in Pennsylvania, critiques their brews, the food and the atmosphere. He also gives the reader directions on how to get there! My wife and I have used this book throughout the summer for several day excursions. My goal is to visit each one listed in the book. No I'm NOT an alcoholic. I enjoy craft beers and find it difficult to drink the watery domestics that are produced for the masses. Brew pubs succeed and fail all the time, but have no fear! Lew has a website where he updates closings and openings; Lew Bryson.com and a blog too LewBryson.Blogspot. Lew has also written books for other areas along the East Coast, so if you're a reader outside the Pennsylvania area, you just might be in luck!

We've visited a good majority of those listed in the book. Fortunately for us, we live in an area where there are several brewpubs within a two hour drive. A word of advice when visiting a brew pub/brewery, DO NOT order one beer from their menu. Ask if they have a sampler and try them all. The samples are small enough that you will have no problem driving, (unless you weigh about 60lbs). More often than not, you will order a beer you may not like and end up with a bad experience. Each brewery usually has several beers on tap with varied tastes. There is usually something for everyone, but do not expect beers like Coors Light or Miller as you will be sorely disappointed. Enough rambling for now. In a future post, I will list some of the places we've been!

I had not heard of this pepper Bhut Jolokia until I read the article. It is rated at over 1 million scoville heat units, 4 times hotter than the Red Savina! For those of you that are not familiar with the Scoville Scale here is some info. Keep in mind this table seems to be outdated. I grew several plants of the orange habanero's a few years ago and those puppies were hot. All I know is that I want to be nowhere in proximity to this woman the day after her record attempt!

Want vs. Need

We have all heard it. The world revolves around money. Money makes the world go around. Money is the root of all evil, etc. How many things do we buy each day that we truly do not need, but rather, want? Corporate America has led us to believe with their creative marketing that we need so much more than is necessary. What would happen to the economy if we pushed greed aside and only purchased those things that we needed? My friend Dorman had eluded that life was so much simpler when he was stationed in Iraq. He reflected back and took an inventory of what he had, and came to the conclusion that most of those things he did not need. If we only bought what we needed to survive on a daily basis, credit card debt would be close to nonexistent. Mortgage foreclosures would virtually be eliminated as well, as people would live in homes that were practicle. Not these huge homes they cannot afford so they can have large aesthetic rooms that are never used. One large home building company uses a slogan that they are 'building hope'. I like to think of it as hope that one can make that mortgage payment.

Corporate America's marketing tactics would have to drastically change in a society of need. They need not worry though, because greed has it's death grip on our world. It's all about 'how much can I get'. A group in San Francisco has attempted to simplify their lives S.F. group enjoys shopping sabbatical. So the next time you go to buy that soda at the convenience store, that song on iTunes, that iPod, that vacation, that large LCD flat screen TV (yes, I'm guilty of that one), that new blouse or jeans; ask yourself this, 'do I need this or do I want this'?

Snotsucker's Year in Review

Well, right now I feel like Casey Kasem. 2006 started out with the Mrs & I getting married in Jamaica in January. My friend Dorman made it home safely from Iraq and is now back in the States. My daughter completed kindergarten 'sniff, sniff' and is growing up right before my eyes. The month of June handed us some big time rainfall resulting in plenty of flooding. July we roadtripped to D.C. to see my friend Bob and then onto Virginia for a visit to Water Country USA, Jamestown, and Williamsburg. The end of August I saw my little girl start the first grade. Followed by the Holidays, which have been very hectic here with little time for blogging.

I read an article last week Blogging to Peak that stated blogging will most likely peak in 2007 and begin to subside. In the beginning, they said most people blog, blog, blog, and eventually taper off. I've found myself as one of those people, as have a few of my blogging friends. There has been an exception though. My friend Michael over at Smoke & Mirrors is a terrific writer and continues going strong. I only wish I had his gift of the written word.

Overall, it has been a great 2006. Our families are healthy, happy and looking forward to an even greater 2007.

As most of you know, it is almost a year now since myself and Mrs SnotSucker tied the knot. Until last week, I've gone the entire year unprotected. Two hours of paperwork and questions, followed by an exam have left me feeling violated and very vulnerable. What could he possibly be talking about you ask? Well, I just applied for life insurance. I've answered every possible question about my body, my social history/activities and my family. They have my blood & my urine, my chest size and abdominal size, my blood pressure, height and weight. I signed papers for the nosy nellies to search through my medical records, and post their findings to a national database. Now from coast to coast, the entire insurance industry will be able to acquire any info on me . They've left no stone unturned. The amount of information they will have available to them frightens me. But, it had to be done. I liken the insurance industry to the tabloids and papparazi and I'm the celebrity. They're trying to get as much dirt on me as they can. HA! I have nothing to hide. So in the end.....( hey that was one place they didn't look! ) Funny thing is, they made me sign one of those HIPPA papers. Hypocrisy at it's best.......

Recently, we've had a run on celebrities publicly drowning their sorrows. Don't get me wrong. I love beer and an occasional vodka tonic. But this is getting out of hand. Looks like Joe may have started a trend:

What kind of examples are these morons setting? If you've had too much to drink, why would you go on national television and make a fool of yourself? Hollywood loves their alcohol. As some of you know, I have the unfortunate opportunity to be on the receiving end of the actions of drunk drivers. I see some very gruesome sights. To top things off, I had the pleasure the other night of following a drunk driver home from work. I was the third car behind so I could not get close enough to view the plate number and notify the police. This driver was so sloshed that they were driving down the road straddling the white line. I kept my fingers crossed each time they passed a car, hoping that there would be no head on collision. Fortunately, no accident occured and no one was killed prior to turning and taking my normal route home. Have fun this holiday season, but please do it responsibly! At work or in school: I work best by myself. I like to focus on my ideas until my desire for understanding is satisfied. I am easily bored if the subject holds no interest to me. Sometimes, it is hard for me to set priorities because so many things are of interest.

With friends: I may seem reserved. Although my thoughts and feelings run deep, I am uneasy with frequent displays of emotion. I enjoy people who are interesting and of high integrity.

With family: I am probably seen as a loner because I like a lot of private time to think. Sometimes, I find family activities boring and have difficulty following family rules that don't make sense to me. I show love by spending time with my family and sharing ideas and interests.

$24.2 million for men burned atop rail car

WTF is wrong with our judicial system?! These kids were TRESPASSING and had no business climbing on top of a train. Years ago they would've been charged with trespassing, but these days you can be rewarded for your defiance and stupidity, all at the same time!! Now, if only I could come up with some dumbass thing to do so that I can become a millionaire. Too much tylenol for my kid, climbing on top of train cars, using my baby as a baseball bat are already taken, so any new suggestions are appreciated.

Is it just me or was the World Series and it's coverage lame this year? IMO when reading the news online there was minimal coverage, almost as if it were a side note. Read this mornings paper and was not even aware it was already over. It did not even make the headlines in the sports section of our newspaper. Local highschool football coverage took precedence.

I used to be a huge baseball fan, but I've come to dislike the Majors. I've been sour since the strike back in '94, & yes I know that's a long time ago. I'm tired of the multimillion dollar contracts to play a great game; I'm tired of owners trying to buy their World Series with overpaid lackluster players and I'm tired of the feds trying to clean up the sport when they should be policing themselves. I get the feeling others hold similar opinions. We can only hope that baseball will become as great as it once was.

My buddy Michael over at Smoke & Mirrors wrote a nice piece the other day about his Dream Hat. His piece along with an advertisement for the movie "Deja Vu", rekindled a memory I've had since I was a little boy. This incident has bothered me so much that I've only ever told a few people that are close to me.

I was approximately 9 years old and had a recurrent dream that would not go away. The dreams consisted of waking up to a bright orange glow outside my bedroom window, followed by me repeatedly riding my bike past the remains of our neighbors house. Their house had burnt to the ground. While riding my bike in the dream, I distinctly remember smelling the smoky, waterlogged, remnants of their home. If you've ever smelled a freshly burnt dwelling, it has a distinctive smell like no other.

The dreams came and went for over a year and I never understood their meaning until that fateful night. One night several years later, I awoke to an orange glow outside my window. Our neighbors house was on fire. I woke my parents who then called the fire department. Fortunately, everyone inside escaped safely. I was scared shitless. The next several days were spent riding my bike past the remains of their house, smelling that acrid smell just as I had done in my dreams. I was in awe. that there is no hope for our society. Have we become that litigious that we can't even play 'tag' anymore? Gimme a freaking break! I could see some issues with 'smear the queer', but 'tag'?! I myself am a victim of recess. I broke a tooth in the third grade playing football at recess and I still have the cap to prove it. Did my parents threaten to sue? HELL NO! Soon it will be illegal to climb trees. Some days I'm so sickened by what I see and hear. For a few of those very reasons, I sometimes regret bringing a beautiful child into this world. I can only hope when she is older, that she will have the same freedoms that we currently have today.

Well, it's that time of year again. You can always tell by the cheesy election ads that have hit the airwaves. Right now those ads are kind hearted and feel good. Supposed to tug at my heartstrings kind of ads. As we sheep have come to expect, in a few weeks as election day nears, the ads will turn to pointing fingers and mudslinging. The last line of every ad ends with; "I'm (insert favorite politician) and I approve this message."
Why don't they just end with; "I'm (insert favorite politician) and I've just blatantly lied to your face and told you what you wanted to hear"?

My buddy Reverend Gisher over at Less People Less Idiots has stumbled into a good old freedom of speech shootout. In a nutshell, his videos have been deleted and accounts terminated by those rascals over at "utube" (note: don't want to give them extra advertising) and other video hosting sites. If you watch the videos posted on his site, you will find that they are legit and much "cleaner" than others listed on the video sites. Gisher is trying to establish a point in regards to banner advertisements of conglomerates during adult videos. He has opened new accounts in an attempt to get the word out, only to have them terminated. Here we are in 2006 and we are STILL fighting censorship. Unbelievable folks, unbelievable. Stop over and check out the fight. If you feel strongly about freedom of speech, he can add you to an evergrowing list of supporters. Stand up for what you believe in and maybe once and for all, we can eliminate censorship by our government and large corporations.

Have you seen my baseball?

Whew, what a weekend! We're still feeling the effects of what turned out to be a great time with lots of beer, late nights, good food, and lots of catching up to do. It has been a long time since the 3 of us have all been together and we made sure we started where we left off.

It began with me getting 3 hours of sleep in 41 hours due to work and having to pick up Bob a.k.a. ChaseDC in Philly. We sat around picking our asses waiting for Dorman to get on the road after doing the "things" he had to do.... Well, Dorman finally shows up Friday evening and the weekend just went downhill from there :)
Our beverage of choice was a fine brew from America's Oldest Brewery as we firmly believe in supporting the local economy. We down a couple of Porters and decided to go out to a local establishment for some people watching. The night or should I say morning, ended with several more trips to the refridgerator, tons of reminiscing and philosophical discussion.

Saturday we happily woke up without hangovers, (with the exception of Melissa) and had more friends coming over for a cookout. Our friend Grimace and his family were expected to show up about 2pm. He was my old college roommate and lives down the road a few.

Bratwursts, burgers and dogs were on the menu for the day along with good conversation, music (thanks Grimace for the hair metal), and last but not least...lots of foolishness!

Saturday night Dorman and ChaseDC went out to a local bar for some hang time. Me, I was too exhausted from my lack of sleep and decided to stay home & go to bed. The boys got home about 0230 and I woke up to go outside for some conversation. Finally, off to bed again about 4am.

Sunday, everyone crashed hard and woke up late. We decided to do some Microbrewery hopping. I received a book for my birthday Pennsylvania Breweries 3rd Ed that lists 53 breweries in Pennsylvania. It is a goal of mine to visit all fifty three listed in the book and we knocked off two on Sunday. The General Lafayette Inn & Brewery in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania is where I had a very good Raspberry Mead Ale. So strong they only will serve you three! We then headed over to Manayunk Brewery in Philadelphia for some more microbrews, music and food. We tried all the brews on the menu. I started with the California Dreamin' an India Pale Ale which was a very bitter beer with 65 IBU's. I then had the Schuylkill Punch which is a Belgian Red and very easy to drink. Of course everyone ordered something different, and we each tried them all. Well, it was Sunday night and time to head home. We had to get up eary to get ChaseDC back to the bus station in Philly and Melissa had to get up for work. Thanks to all who came, & hope everyone had a good time. Special thanks to my beautiful spouse for all her help in pulling off a great weekend!

We've been reading/watching over the last week the frenzy that has erupted at the airports due to the new threats. Personally, I think this could have been handled differently given the information they had. Airlines & security agencies displayed their typical knee-jerk reactions. Remember the nail clippers? Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with safety and inspections, but there has been no consistency between the agencies. They are slowly allowing some items to be brought back onto flights, but they are not keeping the information up to date on websites. I think this has shown we are only slightly safer than we were 5 years ago, and any issues will throw the system into chaos.

First of all, anyone can see if a liquid is sealed in it's original container whether it be water, baby food etc. Bottled water or items that have been opened should have been discarded, and any items with their safety seals still intact should be permitted. If there are no carryons, these items can be closely scrutinized without delaying the lines. I guess we can assume all of our baby food and water at the grocery store has been tampered with by a terrorist, even if the seals are in place.

X-rays. Now EVERYONE must take off their shoes and send them through the x-ray machine. Why? Think about it. Gels and liquid explosives cannot be detected by x-rays.

How long will the no carryon rule last? Who knows. If it continues for an extended period of time, I suspect it is a ploy by the airlines to save money on fuel and increase profits due to less cargo weight. The flight attendants are obviously thrilled with the no carry on rule.

For those that have issues with airline rules remember; it is a priviledge to fly, not a right.

I picked this site up over at Michael's blog Smoke and Mirrors. Some of the 'look a like' celebrity's chosen are hilarious. Putting in a different picture of yourself will give different results. One of my fav's that didn't even come close was Laurence Fishburn! Ummm Hello? Anyway, I thought that this collection provided the closest resemblance to myself. Of course my favorite is James Gandolfini, but I would have to gain another 100 pounds to come anywhere close. Fuggedaboutit!! Actually, I've been told several times that I look like Anthony Edwards when he was on the show ER. I have to agree, especially when he had the goattee. I work in the hospital setting thus, I wear scrubs, & I also wear glasses. Although, I have a full head of hair and hope it stays that way!

Jury Awards Family $5-Million After Infant's Death
This one takes the cake for me. Eventually, all over-the-counter drugs will once again require a prescription due to the stupidity of people like this. Regardless of whether it's Infant, Childrens Tylenol etc., all of the labels for under 2yo say the same thing. It says "consult your child's physician". There are no dosages given on the box for children under 2yo as acetaminophen is based on weight at this age. So that means the caregiver MUST speak to a healthcare professional to determine the correct dosage and frequency to be given. What's so hard about that? A phone call to the Dr's office was obviously too difficult and now they're millions of dollars richer as a result of their ignorance? In order to have passed a judgement as appalling as this one, they also must of packed the jury with a bunch of imbeciles. Anyone with a brain can see that this was pure and simple negligence on the parent's part. This is a great example of why physicians are leaving Pennsylvania. They're unable to afford the malpractice insurance to protect them from morons that can't read directions and the juries that reward stupidity. You can thank this jury and others like it for the neverending rise in healthcare premiums. I'm sure these parents are going deaf as well, because they're too damn stupid to turn down the volume on their iPODS!

Where has the Summer gone? Winter seems to drag on forever, but Summer comes and goes in the blink of an eye. I've been lacking in the blog postings for some time, but for those of you who have been with me from the beginning, know that when the weather permits, I prefer to spend my time outdoors. The cold, dreary winter months (that are not too far away) are when you will find me blogging on a frequent basis.
This summer I've been busy enjoying outdoor activities and spending time with family & friends. We recently returned from a vacation to D.C. to visit our friend Bob and then on to Williamsburg, Va. This past Sunday we took a family trip to Hershey Park. I've been keeping up with the news and have come across piles of info to talk about, just little free time to get it onto Causticity's Place.

I will make a concerted effort to bring my readers more of the sarcasm you've come to expect here at SnotSucker's blog.

At work this morning, the maintenance people were going room to room removing the light boxes which have been used for decades to view x-ray films. Our hospital became entirely digital two years ago, and they are just getting around to taking down the boxes, since we can view films on any computer in the institution. The simplest of gadgets, the light box is taking the 8-track, cassette tape and soon to be VCR roads to extinction. It was kind of sad actually, but another sign of progress in our digital revolution

Missed Tributes

Now for a few humble thoughts about the Oscars.

I did not see every second of it, but my wife did, and she joins me in noting that there was not one word of tribute, not one breath, to our fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan or to their families or their widows or orphans. There were pitifully dishonest calls for peace -- as if the people we are fighting were interested in any peace for us but the peace of the grave. But not one word for the hundreds of thousands who have served and are serving, not one prayer or moment of silence for the dead and maimed.

Basically, the sad truth is that Hollywood does not think of itself as part of America, and so, to Hollywood, the war to save freedom from Islamic terrorists is happening to someone else. It does not concern them except insofar as it offers occasion to mock or criticize George Bush. They live in dreamland and cannot be gracious enough to thank the men and women who pay with their lives for the stars'
ability to live in dreamland. This is shameful.

The idea that it is brave to stand up for gays in Hollywood, to stand up against Joe McCarthy in Hollywood (fifty years after his death), to say that rich white people are bad, that oil companies are evil -- this is nonsense. All of these are mainstream ideas in Hollywood, always have been, always will be. For the people who made movies denouncing Big Oil, worshiping gays, mocking the rich to think of themselves as brave -- this is pathetic, childish narcissism.

The brave guy in Hollywood will be the one who says that this is a fabulously great country where we treat gays, blacks, and everyone else as equal. The courageous writer in Hollywood will be the one who says the oil companies do their best in a very hostile world to bring us energy cheaply and efficiently and with a minimum of corruption. The producer who really has guts will be the one who says that Wall Street, despite its flaws, has done the best job of democratizing wealth ever in the history of mankind.

No doubt the men and women who came to the Oscars in gowns that cost more than an Army Sergeant makes in a year, in limousines with champagne in the back seat, think they are working class heroes to attack America -- which has made it all possible for them. They are not. They would be heroes if they said that Moslem extremists are the worst threat to human decency since Hitler and Stalin. But someone might yell at them or even attack them with a knife if they said that, so they never will.

Hollywood is above all about self: self-congratulation, self-promotion, and above all, self-protection. This is human and basic, but let's not kid ourselves. There is no greatness there in the Kodak theater. The greatness is on patrol in Kirkuk. The greatness lies unable to sleep worrying about her man in Mosul. The greatness sleeps at Arlington National Cemetery and lies waiting for death in VA Hospitals. God help us that we have sunk so low as to confuse foolish and petty boasting with the real courage that keeps this nation and the many fools in it alive and flourishing on national TV.

My daughter and I took a walk yesterday at a local State Park in search of Spring. You would not know it was the second full day of Spring here in Pennsylvania. Breezy and 39 degrees. Guess that groundhog was right, and then some. I also took along our new toy to document any clues that we found of that elusive season. By the end of our journey, we found two small wildflowers poking their heads up from the cold soil. Their blossoms still tightly closed, looking almost as if they were patiently waiting for the warmth of the Spring sun. Mission accomplished. We had found a clue, and hoped it was a sign of better things to come...

Recently the harebrained driving patterns of many people have been pissing me off. Cutting over from the passing lane without a turn signal with only inches to spare between myself and the person in front of me, cruising along in the passing lane at speeds that belong in the right lane (now illegal in Pa), people driving on my ass in rush hour traffic (I can only go as fast as the person in front of me), and those that feel 'yield' means merge regardless of oncoming traffic! All of this got me to thinking; wouldn't it be great if I had a sign I could hold up for each person that pisses me off. That way I could let them know how I truly feel. Well, apparently I can because someone else has thought of it and actually put it in print Road Rage Cards. They are perfect for that daily commute and it would be a healthy way of expressing my anger. Ummm, then again maybe not so healthy, because if I really wanted to use these things, I would need an armored car and body armor as a result of all the unglued people out there.....

Study: Bats' sexual prowess tied to smaller brains

So which do you prefer? Big testicles with a small brain, allowing for several mates and offspring, or small testicles and a larger brain allowing for fewer mates and offspring? It kills me with the types of topics that scientists will study. It would be interesting to see if there are any correlations in the human species ;)

Well, if you haven't read by now...it was an interesting weekend with Dorman and some of our fellow bloggers. A good time was had by all...apparently some more than others ;) It was great to finally meet those "behind the screen". Mattandriver at Commonality among Indifference and his wife and Carnealian at Graven Images. Blogs are what you make of them, and what you take from them. You're welcome to those that expressed thanks for the advice and the shoulders to lean on. Thanks to you as well. I look forward to hanging with all again. Dorman I missed you and it was great to catch up. I'm glad you made it home safe and are finally happy. And yes, you do look good in blue ;) BTW Sunday was not a good day for me :( as I'm sure most of you as well.

Here is one to fire up those dusty old synapses:
I was driving down the road yesterday and noticed an old faded sign that triggered some pleasant memories. Green fingers and tongues, lots of licking and sticking, fighting with my brother to put the last one in the book. They were very popular years ago, but eventually faded out of sight and mind. Have you figured it out yet? I'm talking about S & H Green Stamps. Why I'm talking about this I have no idea.

After some research, I've discovered that they actually haven't totally disappeared. They've retooled themselves for the digital age and now have a website GreenPoints.com. Here is a history of the green stamp and you'll be suprised that they've been around as long as they have. Oh, and if you still have some laying around in the back of a drawer, you can still turn them in!! I hope this triggered some long lost memories for you, as it did for me. As I say here at Causticity's Place, 'A little bit of everything, about a whole lot of nothing'.

I found this email in my inbox upon returning home from vacation. It is very thought provoking and imo an honest portrayal of today's society.

If you are ready for the adventure of a lifetime, TRY THIS:

Enter Mexico illegally. Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense. Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family. Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.
Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc. Procreate abundantly.

Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive behavior with, "It is a cultural American thing. You would not understand."

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop, or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children do likewise.

Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Demand a local Mexican driver license. This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal presence in Mexico.

Drive around with no liability insurance and ignore local traffic laws.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its officers.

Good luck! You'll be demanding for the rest of time or soon dead.

Because it will never happen. It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the world except right here in the United States, Land of the naive and stupid, idiotic politically correct politicians.

If you don't agree, go ahead and try the above in Mexico or Iraq and see what happens.
